Design for real Woman

.

Éléonore Sala

Gynaecological examinations are important moments in women’s lives but often endured. From a user-centered perspective, I tried to enhance the gynaecological experience considering the apprehension and lack of understanding women can feel – in a process where both, patient and specialist, are considered. I aim to create an all-scenario project proposing solutions to achieve examination issues like patient consent, dealing with pain or doctors’ lack of time. My reflection goes further than product design, considering gynaecological examination in the gestures and in the atmosphere of the examination room. I wanted women to be active in their own examination. A special table is designed for them, where they will find objects they can use to their comfort (like towels or intimate wipes), to prepare their bodies for the examination (with a pre-speculum and a mirror) and to learn about their bodies (with an app).
