L3 PRODUCT DESIGN

The purpose of the DSAA (4-year higher technical degree in applied arts) is to prepare students to the jobs of project managers and artistic directors, who play key roles within companies and are essential both to industrial and service innovation.

As their task is to synthesise projects, to clarify them so as to put them into perspective, product designers are required to develop a broad vision and an overall view of design.

Being project managers, they have to create, conceive and carry out their projects using creative, technical and marketing skills.

The course is based on a creative approach which enables the students to invent tomorrow’s products and services. They develop their expertise and know-how through various tools and technologies (drawing, traditional and computer-aided modelling, new technologies) with firm grounding in colour and shape – which helps them give substance to their ideas.

Product designers have to draw inspiration from their imagination and to be familiar with objects and services so as to be able to create new ones. They also need to develop historical, social, industrial and technological knowledge in order to be able to define object identity.

Design students from La Martinière-Diderot elaborate innovative collaborative projects with other students and with professionals from different fields of design or from other academic backgrounds (engineering, ergonomics, marketing…).
