Sylvain Dartois – Master Diploma – Graphic Design
This project is a reflection about graphic design in the current migration crisis and its role in the communication problems in reception centres when several populations, several cultures, several languages meet. How to invite people to talk together and exchange despite language barriers? How can graphic design release a word that, even if it is not mastered, can be used?
Led in partnership with LahSo, a reception centre in Lyon, it is thanks to co-design and participative design, and through various workshops with migrants and social workers that were created different graphic tools to stimulate dialogue, to support discussions on a specific subject — to help migrants to tell who they are as a person. In this project are played out questions of language, but also of consideration and welcome.
