Grégoire Valoteau – Master Diploma – Graphic Design

In recent years, dating websites have allowed remote exchanges. In a digital world, dating applications have become commonplace and normalized. In passing from one profile to another, people face a multitude of possibilities. They consider photographic profiles which were unknown to them until then. They develop normalized modes of discussion, with the idea of the traditional couple in mind. Most of the dating applications ask people to complete their profile with basic information. They specify their gender, age, sexuality, favorite music and so forth. The purpose is to have a brief conversation before meeting for real. Our cellphones have become real tools of seduction. How then, as a graphic designer, can I tackle this notion of meeting? What is the sensorial dimension of a meeting interface? By inviting users in the creation of an innovative profile, “Idyll” offers a new dating experience. Thanks to the 3D, every user can design the landscape which best represents them. They can interact in a new world, made of livened up shapes. The interface suggests a wide range of colours, animations, behaviours, forms, thus allowing users to seduce differently and to consider the first conversations from another angle.
