Elsewhere at home is an itinerant unit designed to support asylum seekers in precarious accommodation like squats, camps or slums, through cultural and educational practices.
In fact, this tiny piece of architecture composed of six semicircles, convertible in six full circles, promotes musical sharing, education through cinema and language classes. The aim is to support the expression and exchanges between new arrivals and local inhabitants through shared practices. This project hopes to consider mental needs (recognition,
thought, exchanges, autonomy) of exiles, which are important just like physiological needs. This unit aims to enlighten refugees’ skills and talents while they are seeking their right to asylum and applying for citizenship in France.
