The repetition of a GIF hides an energy which is not made visible either through photography or video. My project aims at developing the graphic language of GIF through a media: dot.GIF and a subject, the crowd.

The Yellow Jackets demonstrations made it clear : the media coverage of a crowd is problematic. Journalists were reproached for always showing the same images, seeking spectacularly visuals, and drama. Indeed, the energy of the crowd escapes mainstream shooting, that is why it seems necessary to find out new tools for new forms of representation.

Sweeping aside the idea of dealing with the phenomenon as a whole Dot.GIF immerses into the crowd and navigates through “moving still shots”, a hypnotic suspended moment in time.
